Flowood Fusion U12 Girls
The 3FC U12 D2 Premiere Team “Orange Crush” recently traveled to the Baton Rouge United Select Tournament in Louisiana. The U12 girls had a strong showing bringing home the silver medal for their bracket. They started off the tournament by beating MS Fire by a score of 10 – 1, in which Haley Pogue (defender) scored two beautiful goals (her first of the season), Zoe Ellis chipped in with 4 goals, and goal keeper Kaylee Van Norman played outstanding only surrendering the one goal.

In game two, the Orange Crush beat the West Monroe, LA Dynamite by a score of 11 to 1. Everyone on the team played outstanding, Lyza Vanderberry scored her first goal of the season, Katie Joseph scored from distance, Isabella Wade set up many beautiful scores and put one in as well, Saige Sorey scored her first goal of the tournament, Malika Verma scored two wonderful goals off crosses, and Zoe Ellis led all scorers with 4 goals.

In game three, the Orange Crush took on BRSC Maroon from Baton Rouge and won 6 to 1. Haley Pogue put in her third goal of the tournament, Isabella Wade scored 1 goal, Malika Verma scored one goal, Saige Sorey scored a goal, and Zoe Ellis scored two goals.

The Flowood Orange Crush advanced to the finals and took on the MS Fire, it was a tough battle and the Orange Crush were finally defeated by a score of 3 to 1. Malika Verma scored the lone goal for the Orange Crush. The game was a tough battle and a lot of goals did not go our way, while the Fire team scored on the three opportunities they had. We are looking forward to having a great rivalry against the MS Fire in the coming months.

Justin Waldrop and Morris Wade, the coaches for the Orange Crush, were very proud of their girls. Coach Morris stated: “It’s a great thing for a D2 program to come out and beat SELECT teams by such a large margin.”  Coach Justin stated: “The silver medal is not what we came to win, but with it being our first tournament of the year, we will take it. We will continue to work hard, and we will bring home the gold this season!”

The Flowood Orange Crush ended the tournament by scoring more goals than any girls team (U10 and up) in the tournament.
