YMCA Responsible Fatherhood programs offer opportunities for fathers to interact with other fathers, gain parenting skills and interact with their children in a fun, positive environment.  These opportunities are provided as both a means to improve family relations and as a way to promote the importance of fathers being active in their children’s lives.  Support groups and skill building sessions are offered through the 24/7 Dad curriculum developed by the National Fatherhood Initiative.

The 24/7 Dad program focuses on the characteristics that every father needs and covers the universal aspects of fatherhood so that men of all cultures, races, religions and backgrounds can learn to be better fathers.  Participants will hone their fathering skills as they learn about being a father and the important role that fathers play in the lives of their children and their family. In addition, participants will learn important ways to strengthen their relationships with their wives or the mother of their children.  24/7 Dad will show you how to develop effective strategies to manage your physical and mental health and to help you balance your work and family commitments.

The 24/7 Dad is a twelve week program that meets in one hour sessions once a week.  Please check our course schedule for a class meeting near you.  If you have a group that would be interested in starting a 24/7 Dad program, please contact Quency Coleman at (601) 944-1055 or email qcoleman@metroymcams.org.

The Responsible Fatherhood program is sponsored by the Families First Resource Center which is funded by a grant from the Department of Human Services.
