Completing Your 5k
You can complete your 5k (3.1 miles) anytime in the month of June. This can be completed as one run, walk, hike, or treadmill workout, or it can be cumulative by doing smaller segments of your choice. We are operating on the honor system, and you will be sent your race shirt by the end of the event period.
We have SO many amazing artwork that we are not able to auction physically, but we will be hosting a Virtual, Online Auction later this month. Stay tuned on our Facebook page for the exact date and details to sign up! You will have an opportunity to purchase amazing artwork for a very discounted price.
We’re all trying to do our part to slow the spread of the pandemic. In completing your 5k, please FOLLOW THE CDC GUIDELINES related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Find more information HERE
Posting on Facebook
We are encouraging participants to “Post Your Race” on our Facebook Event Page. This is not a requirement but will allow us to connect as a community and “virtually celebrate” your accomplishment at this difficult time. Your “race time” is not a requirement to us as we will not be providing awards based on finish time.
You can post a photo, workout data, location, even your finish time if you’d like. We’ll be selecting some winners from those who post to provide some incentives.
If you aren’t on Facebook and want to submit proof of completing your 5k, you can email me at email@example.com with that information. (There will not be an official race results page or any age group awards, so this is not required.)
We will begin mailing out packets on June 7th & 8th. Your packet will include your commemorative shirt & thank you. This will be mailed to the address used with your sign up. You are also able to pick up your shirt at your YMCA branch if you live in the area.
Online registration will remain open until June 30th at midnight unless we run out of race shirts prior to that date. We plan on ordering extra shirts, but when we run out, we will not reorder.

Why the Y? — We are so much more than “just a gym”!
For Youth Development: Last year, we welcomed a total of 784 children to our YMCA out-of-school time childcare sites. Instead of going home alone, these children get help with homework, time to socialize with friends and most importantly, a safe place to be while their parents work. Each year, we offer our Inclusive Program at the Reservoir Y which allows special needs children a chance to be part of a regular summer camp and/or afterschool experience to learn the value of teamwork and good sportsmanship.
For Healthy Living: Mississippi struggles with the highest obesity rate in the nation and 1 out of every 3 of our children are obese. An active lifestyle promotes good health for people of any age. From swim lessons to wellness programs for seniors, the Y is helping people becoming stronger in spirit, mind and body. Our pledge this year is to “build the Foundation for healthy Living in Mississippi.” Our mission is to empower and educate everyone in this community to build a healthier, happier home.
For Social Responsibility: We are creating an environment where everyone, regardless of income, age or background, feels a sense of belonging and has the opportunity to thrive. Our strategic priority is to reduce childhood hunger and food insecurity across Mississippi. Last year, we provided over 5,000 meals and snacks because we believe that no child should go hungry.
