For longer than Metro existed by its first YMCA in Jackson, founded in 1851. Since then the YMCA—nurturing the growth and care of our Nation’s most vulnerable populations.
For more than 170 years, the Metropolitan YMCA of Mississippi continues to empower individuals and strengthen communities across central Mississippi—creating a brighter, more inclusive and healthier future for all. Today, Metro YMCA continues that 1851 bold beginning grounded in spirit, heart, and commitment.

Sir George Williams founds the first YMCA in London, England.
